Individual counselling can be powerful when you are ready to learn more about yourself and take steps to creating changes in your life.
You may not even know what these changes are yet, but what you know is something does not feel quite right. You may be feeling hopeless or self-critical. You may be feeling anxious or constantly worrying. You may be having relationship problems at work or at home. You may be feeling exhausted, down or stuck.
You also may be going through a major transition in your life (career, relationship, experiencing a child, grief, break-up, etc.) and want to give yourself an opportunity to figure out what you really want and need.
Counselling can help you deepen the understanding of yourself and learn new tools and strategies, so you can identify your needs with clarity, experience relief from unwanted thoughts, and ultimately feel healthier from the inside-out.
The years of being a child and teenager are filled with exciting experiences; yet, this time may be a trying developmental stage. Children take on complex tasks and experiences for the first time, and frequently discover they lack the skills to navigate them.
With years of education and experience with children and families as a Registered Psychologist, I have a warm connection with children and teens while creating a partnership filled with support, compassion and empathy. I help children acquire the skills and abilities to flourish in their homes, schools and social environments. Children often don’t have the tools and resources of an adult, so I use specialized children’s therapies including Play Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing). I also work closely with parents to provide coaching and new tools to handle parenting difficulties they encounter.
I have helped children and teens identify and communicate feelings, develop decision making skills and problem solving, reduce depression and anxiety, improve self-esteem and acquire healthy coping strategies. I have also helped families work more efficiently and cohesively to express themselves, understand their child better, strengthen relationships, and develop healthy strategies to decrease conflict in the family. Additionally, I am able to guide, support, and provide structure to parents in co-parenting relationships as well as parents navigating the delicate territory of blending families.
